El Paso has gone a perfect 7-0 against Austin recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Tigers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 11:30 a.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (El Paso has three straight victories, Austin has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Friday, El Paso got the win against San Elizario by a conclusive 17-1. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by ten runs or more this season.
Noah Veith made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, El Paso let Bryson Barclay and Moises Castanon run wild. Barclay went 1-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Castanon went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Castanon a new career-high. Omar Nunez was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
El Paso hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Austin fell victim to Canutillo and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Eagles, falling 13-0.
Austin's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for El Paso, their win bumped their record up to 8-5.
El Paso got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April of 2022 against Austin by a conclusive 12-4 score. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Panthers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
