Dunedin hasn't had much luck against Tampa Prep recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Dunedin Falcons will square off against the Tampa Prep Terrapins at 6:30 p.m. Dunedin is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.2 points per game this season.
It was a Battle of the Birds when Dunedin faced off against East Lake on Tuesday. Dunedin received a blow as they fell 71-54 to East Lake. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 284th, while the Eagles are ranked 92nd).

Despite their defeat, Dunedin saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. SHERWIN SIMMONS, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 17 points and seven rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. SIMMONS has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 11 times he's played. Another player making a difference was JALEN JACKSON, who went 7 of 13 en route to 15 points and six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Tampa Prep had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.4 points) and they went ahead and made it ten on Tuesday. They breezed by the Knights to the tune of 74-41. The Terrapins have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 matches by 24 points or more this season.
Dunedin better keep an eye on Kaii Levy. He was instrumental in Tampa Prep's win, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 11 boards. Those 20 points gave Levy a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of J'London Bivens, who went 5 of 6 on his way to 12 points along with five assists and four steals.
Tampa Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in nine consecutive games.
Tampa Prep pushed their record up to 15-1 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home. As for Dunedin, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-5.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as both are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Dunedin hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 63.2 points per game. However, it's not like Tampa Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 67.4 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Dunedin was taken down by Tampa Prep 76-23 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Dunedin was down 44-16.
