The Chapman Panthers entered their tilt with the Broome Centurions with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Chapman skirted past Broome 38-35. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Chapman had a senior duo take command as Mathai Scott rushed for 176 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.8 yards per carry and Coleman Gray rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries. Scott is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last four games he's played. Keanu Na was another key contributor, rushing for 101 yards on only 12 carries.
Several Centurions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaylen Mcgill, who rushed for 155 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.0 yards per carry. Mcgill is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kamajay Brackett-Brannon, who rushed for 112 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries.
Chapman's victory was their ninth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 9-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.3 points per game. As for Broome, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chapman will take on Crescent at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Crescent will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 94th, while Chapman is ranked 29th). As for Broome, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Seneca at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
