The Sugar Creek Wildcats will head out on the road to challenge the Highland Tech Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Sugar Creek knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight contests -- so hopefully Highland Tech likes a good challenge.
Sugar Creek posted their biggest win yet this season on Monday. They blew past Bonnie Cone Leadership Academy, posting a 76-24 win on the road.
Sugar Creek's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Terry Watson, who scored 15 points along with five assists and three steals. Watson hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Corde Harrison, who scored 14 points along with five steals.
Even though Highland Tech has not done well against Thomas Jefferson recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Highland Tech snuck past Thomas Jefferson with a 48-44 win. Highland Tech didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this win makes it their second in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Highland Tech to victory, but perhaps none more so than Elijah Whitted, who scored 16 points along with seven steals and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Elijah Sherrill, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds.
Sugar Creek is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. Highland Tech's record is now 6-11.
Sugar Creek was able to grind out a solid win over Highland Tech in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, winning 48-37. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sugar Creek since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
