Brandon Cole of Crestwood ran for the longest rushing play in Wyoming Valley 1 this season against Hazleton last week. Cole's team beat the Cougars as he sprinted for 91 yards on the play and finished with 91 in all.
Pittston was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from eighth to sixth in the league. The Patriots defeated Dallas 21-17 earlier in the week.
Pittston's dynamic duo of James Emmett and Michael Schwab proved to be unstoppable against the Mountaineers, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Emmett threw for 202 yards and 2 touchdowns and Schwab had 105 yards receiving. Rich Weinstock helped Pittston's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 51 yards.
He was 11-16 with 1 interception.
Wyoming Valley West's Michael Baur and Michael Sands led the league in both passing and receiving yards. Baur has thrown for 853 yards this season, while Sands has 26 catches for 423 yards. Frank Aigeldinger from Crestwood leads the league in rushing with 842 yards.
An important game coming up in Wyoming Valley 1 this week will be when Williamsport takes on Berwick. At the moment, the Millionaires are in fifth, while the Bulldogs are in first.
Greg Myers' team moved up to 90 from 123 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Comets were able to move up by beating Hazleton 48-7.
