It was a good run, but the Eau Gallie Commodores unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They were outmatched by Palm Bay on the road and fell 61-18. Eau Gallie has not had much luck with Palm Bay recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Alayna Lherisse and Jasmine Carter certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Lherisse scored nine points along with six rebounds, while Carter scored five points along with two steals. That was a full 50% of Eau Gallie's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Eau Gallie struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Palm Bay was led to victory by Erynn Moffett and Jaida Civil. Moffett scored 16 points along with six steals, while Civil scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Another player making a difference was Jordyn Baker, who scored five points.
Eau Gallie's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-9. As for Palm Bay, their victory was their 13th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-5.
Eau Gallie will take on Rockledge at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Rockledge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Thursday. Palm Bay won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Winter Haven at 8:30 p.m. on January 19th. Winter Haven is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
