Basketball Recap: Morehead Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Morehead's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They walked away with a 68-59 victory over the North Forsyth Vikings. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 62-59 back in December of 2024.

Morehead's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Josiah Thomas, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Thomas a new career-high in boards. Avery Bigelow was another key player, going 10 of 16 on his way to 21 points and eight rebounds.

Morehead smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches.

When it comes to explaining why North Forsyth lost, don't look at Kerry Smith. Despite the final result, he went 10 for 21 en route to 25 points along with six boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Frankie Mabe, who posted eight points.

Morehead's win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-10. As for North Forsyth, they dropped their record down to 3-10 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Morehead wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 53-49 loss against Lexington on the 23rd. North Forsyth has also already played their next contest, an 82-41 defeat against Reidsville on the 24th.
