The Christ the King Crusaders were the 72-69 winner over the Community School of Davidson Spartans when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Christ the King lost to Community School of Davidson on the road by a decisive 65-48 margin on Friday. While losing is never fun, Christ the King can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 355th, while Community School of Davidson is ranked 147th).
Christ the King's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Parker Ryan, who scored 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Reimels, who scored 13 points.
Community School of Davidson's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Austin Moran, who scored 15 points along with three steals. John Shields was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Christ the King are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8. As for Community School of Davidson, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Christ the King will challenge Lincoln Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lincoln Charter is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games. As for Community School of Davidson, they will head out on the road to face off against Langtree Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Langtree Charter focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday.
