Gracie Coyle made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Jenna King was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times she's played. Sara Coleman was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.
East Columbus kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in six consecutive games.
Meanwhile, while Heide Trask put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for South Columbus. The Titans blew past the Stallions 10-0. The Titans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by ten runs or more this season.
Dava Bullard made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Bullard was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Naima Shepard, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Trinitee Odom, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
East Columbus pushed their record up to 13-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Heide Trask, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-4.
East Columbus suffered a grim 9-2 defeat to Heide Trask when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Gators avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
