Bella McBrady spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits and racked up 11 Ks. Those 11 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lucy Dubail, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one double. Sawyer VonderHaar also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Kennebunk made easy work of Marshwood on Monday and carried off a 17-4 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rams.
Juliann Pike was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Pike was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Talia Kellum was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Mia McCarthy was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Kennebunk always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .614. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marshwood only posted an OBP of .280.
Gorham now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Kennebunk, their record is now 2-0.
Gorham took their victory against Kennebunk in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gorham since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
