New Prairie is 1-9 against Bremen since November of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The New Prairie Cougars will look to defend their home court against the Bremen Lions at 5:00 p.m. New Prairie will be strutting in after a victory while Bremen will be coming in after a defeat.
In what's become a running theme this season, New Prairie gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They blew past South Bend Riley 56-24 on the road. Given New Prairie's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while South Bend Riley is ranked 375th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
New Prairie had a senior duo take command as Jolie Johns scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and five assists and Jayden Flagg scored 19 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Johns has scored all season. Morgan White was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five steals.
Bremen suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Thursday. They were the victim of a tough 72-50 defeat at the hands of Elkhart. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Bremen in their matchups with Elkhart: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Bremen got a solid performance out of Kila Foster, who scored 26 points along with six assists and two steals. That was a full 52% of Bremen's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Eliana Grubbs, who scored ten points along with seven assists and six rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for New Prairie and bumps their season record up to 16-4. As for Bremen, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 8-10.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: New Prairie hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 52.3 points per game. It's a different story for Bremen, though, as they've been averaging only 50.5 points per game. The only thing between New Prairie and another offensive beatdown is Bremen. Will they be able to keep them contained?
New Prairie strolled past Bremen when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a score of 63-45. Will New Prairie repeat their success, or does Bremen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
