Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Garfield Bulldogs walked away with it. They claimed a resounding 42-6 victory over Gardena at home. Garfield is really starting to get used to good results now that the team's won 11 straight.
It was another big night for Damian Cornejo, who rushed for 150 yards while picking up 7.9 yards per carry. Jayden Barnes did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 80 receiving yards.
Garfield's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 33.9 points. As for Gardena, their loss dropped their record down to 10-2.
Garfield will face off against Birmingham at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Birmingham is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Gardena does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
