The North Hall Trojans pushed their score all the way to 39 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of East Forsyth by a score of 42-39. North Hall lost against East Forsyth in their previous head to head back in November of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 28-21 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why North Hall lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tanner Marsh. Despite the final result, he rushed for 113 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries, and also threw for 209 yards and two touchdowns while completing 76.2% of his passes. Marsh was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 65 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryals Puryear, who picked up 120 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Leading East Forsyth to victory were Troy Hoover and Gus Martin. Hoover rushed for 107 yards and three touchdowns, while Martin rushed for 156 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.2 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Brock Szackacs, who threw for 174 yards and a touchdown while completing 73.3% of his passes.
North Hall's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for East Forsyth, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Hall will challenge Stockbridge at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Stockbridge has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 406 points over their last eight games. As for East Forsyth, they will head out on the road to face off against Luella at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Luella will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
