After flying high against the Glascock County Panthers last Tuesday, the Johnson County Trojans came back down to earth. Johnson County fell just short of Wilkinson County by a score of 51-48. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Johnson County in their matchups with Wilkinson County: they've now lost six in a row.
Johnson County lost on Friday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Benvonte Murray, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Javaris Duckworth, who scored 11 points along with four blocks.
Johnson County's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Wilkinson County, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-12.
Johnson County won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Jefferson County at 7:30 p.m. on January 27th. Jefferson County is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Wilkinson County, they will head out on the road to face off against Twiggs County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Twiggs County is ranked 447th, while Wilkinson County is ranked 456th).
