Softball Recap: Kankakee Valley Gets the Win

Kankakee Valley took a 11-run loss the last time they faced off against Boone Grove, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Kougars came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wolves on Tuesday, sneaking past 8-6. This was payback for the Kougars, who suffered a 14-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

The team relied heavily on Madalynn Hemphill, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Patience Cole also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Kankakee Valley lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Kankakee Valley's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-3. As for Boone Grove, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kankakee Valley will square off against Pioneer at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Kougars are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Boone Grove, they will face off against Hebron at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
