Lincoln County is 2-8 against Wayne since March of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. Bralin Peters made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Lincoln County is undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Peters was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Hunter Chaffin was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Lincoln County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-7 when he doesn't). Isaac Byrd was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Lincoln County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .585. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Wayne was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They fell 3-0 to Huntington.
Wayne saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Prater, who went 1-for-4 with one triple. That triple was Prater's first of the season.
Wayne's loss dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Lincoln County, their victory bumped their record up to 9-7.
Wayne's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Lincoln County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .329. It's a different story for Wayne, though, as they've only averaged .214. Will they be able to contain Lincoln County's hitters?
