The Escondido Cougars will challenge the Bonsall Legionnaires at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Escondido will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Escondido is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 17-5 margin over Classical Academy on Monday. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Caimans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Kendall Workman made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2025. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

In other batting news, Amelia Gastelum and Aubrey McDaniel did most of the damage at the plate: Gastelum went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while McDaniel went 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those four hits gave Gastelum a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ayla Ruvalcaba, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Escondido always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Classical Academy only posted an OBP of .333.
Meanwhile, Bonsall came up short against Hamilton on Tuesday and fell 10-5.
Maddison Trujillo was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Joanna Lopez, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.
Escondido's win bumped their record up to 6-4-1. As for Bonsall, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
Everything went Escondido's way against Bonsall when the teams last played back in April of 2025, as Escondido made off with a 10-2 victory. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Legionnaires have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
