The East St. Louis Flyers entered their tilt with the Lemont Lemont HS with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. East St. Louis simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat Lemont 61-0 at home. The result was nothing new for East St. Louis, who have now won five games by 41 points or more so far this season.
East St. Louis' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Larevious Woods, who rushed for 87 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries, and also picked up 34 receiving yards. Robert (pops) Battle was another key contributor, rushing for 99 yards.
East St. Louis' win was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-2. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 9-1 Edwardsville and 8-2 Belleville East (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 60.4% over those games). As for Lemont, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
East St. Louis does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lemont also has no future games currently scheduled.
