The Monrovia Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Martinsville Artesians at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Saturday, Monrovia suffered a tough 72-49 loss at the hands of Clay City. While losing is never fun, Monrovia can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 271st, while Clay City is ranked 106th).
Monrovia's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Clay Tharp, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds, and Tucker Rahn who scored 15 points. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for him.
Meanwhile, Martinsville's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. Their rough 79-54 defeat to Center Grove might stick with them for a while. Martinsville has not had much luck with Center Grove recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
This is the second loss in a row for Monrovia and nudges their season record down to 2-3. As for Martinsville, they bumped their record down to 2-3 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
