After a string of three wins, the Asheboro Hybrid Academy Warriors's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. The contest between Asheboro Hybrid Academy and Faith Christian wasn't particularly close, with Asheboro Hybrid Academy falling 46-28. While losing is never fun, Asheboro Hybrid Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 371st, while Faith Christian is ranked 48th).
Despite the defeat, Asheboro Hybrid Academy saw an underclassman step up: Autumn Voncannon dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Those 15 points set a new season-high mark for her.
Asheboro Hybrid Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Faith Christian, they pushed their record up to 7-0 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.
Asheboro Hybrid Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bonnie Cone Leadership Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 9, 2024. Faith Christian will be home for the holidays to greet South Guilford HomeSchool at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
