The Galax Maroon Tide's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were the victim of a rough 61-41 loss at the hands of North Surry.
North Surry's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Fisher Leftwich led the charge by scoring 19 points along with four steals. Those 19 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Kam Mcknight, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 6 assists.
Galax's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-4. As for North Surry, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Galax will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Graham at 7:15 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Graham presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Galax in Virginia (Graham is ranked 107th, while Galax is ranked 216th). As for North Surry, they will head out on the road to face off against East Wilkes at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
