The Saint Francis Catholic Wolves will head out on the road to challenge the Bronson Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Saint Francis Catholic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.
Saint Francis Catholic is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Dixie County on Tuesday. Saint Francis Catholic walked away with a 9-4 victory over Dixie County.
Andy Janelle was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one triple. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Diaz, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, Bronson posted their closest win since March 22, 2024 on Monday. They skirted past Hawthorne 4-2. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Hornets recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Zach McClelland made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
McClelland wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was T Petrykowski, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-5. As for Saint Francis Catholic, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Saint Francis Catholic has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Bronson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Saint Francis Catholic took their win against Bronson when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Saint Francis Catholic since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
