The Carthage Bulldogs suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Wednesday. They took a serious blow against Center, falling 81-33. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Carthage in their matchups with Center: they've now lost six in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Center to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emonte Cross, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Cross has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Tim Johnson, who scored 17 points.
Carthage bumped their record down to 2-11 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for Center, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carthage will challenge Chapel Hill at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Chapel Hill's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games. As for Center, they will head out on the road to square off against Lumberton at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Lumberton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 911th, while Center is ranked 379th).
