The result came thanks to Katelyn Hubley's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Godwin's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Laney Poulos, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Another was Adelynn Collins, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Midlothian strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against Kellam.
Marlee Gaskell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits.
At the plate, Erin Fiege was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
Midlothian pushed their record up to 23-0 with the win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Godwin, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 23-1.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Godwin has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Midlothian struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
