You can't lose the match if you win every quarter, and that was precisely the Thompson Valley Eagles's strategy against the Skyline Falcons on Tuesday. Thompson Valley walked away with a 75-63 victory over Skyline. The win made it back-to-back wins for Thompson Valley.
Brady Kennison was his usual excellent self, scoring 30 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Kennison is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Tom Mandeville was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Andy Erives, who scored 21 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Erives has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Cameren Sanchez, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 15 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Skyline smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Thompson Valley is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Skyline, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thompson Valley will face off against Severance at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Severance is coming into the contest with seven straight victories at home, meaning Thompson Valley will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory. As for Skyline, they will head out on the road to take on Frederick at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Frederick's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six games.
