The Lake City Trojans will be home for the holidays to greet the Pine River Area Bucks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lake City will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings (they are ranked 521st, while Pine River Area is ranked 89th).
Last Wednesday, things could have been worse for Lake City, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 52-34 loss to Houghton Lake. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lake City has scored all season.
Meanwhile, Pine River Area put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 65-56 win over Tri County Area. Pine River Area's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Trevor Holmquist and Eli Smith were among the main playmakers for Pine River Area as the former scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and five assists and the latter scored 16 points along with four steals. That's the first time this season that Smith scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sheen Pink, who scored ten points.
Lake City now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Pine River Area, they pushed their record up to 5-0 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.
Lake City came up short against Pine River Area when the teams last played back in February, falling 49-41. Can Lake City avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
