The Chandler Wolves were the 62-47 winner over the Cesar Chavez Champions when they last played one another back in February of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Chandler was dealt a 72-38 defeat at the hands of Cesar Chavez on Tuesday. Chandler has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Several Wolves players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Imani Galera-Young, who scored nine points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Galera-Young has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Averi Mehlberg, who scored seven points.
Cesar Chavez's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sophia Doromal led the charge by going 6 for 7 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points and 4 assists. Doromal is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Lakeisha Robinson was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with seven rebounds.
Chandler bumped their record down to 9-8 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Cesar Chavez, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-2.
Chandler will head out on the road to face off against North at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. North will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Cesar Chavez, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sunnyside at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sunnyside is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
