More than 25 high school basketball players have scored at least 50 points in a game this season. Using data submitted to MaxPreps and confirmed using media reports, we compiled the top 10 individual scoring performances of the 2022-23 season.
Leading the list is senior guard
Darrin Ames of
Kenwood (Chicago). Late last month in a 122-48 win over Southland College Prep (Matteson, Ill.), the Kansas State signee went for 65 points. Ames drilled seven 3-pointers and connected on 28 of 41 field goal attempts.
In his 65-point outing, "Dai Dai" also pulled down seven rebounds and recorded seven steals. On the season, Ames is averaging 22.3 points for the Broncos, who are 16-5 and ranked No. 6 in Illinois.
Coming in at No. 2 is junior
Clay Scofield of
Lighthouse Baptist Academy (Theodore, Ala.) with 61 points in a 83-74 loss to Pensacola Christian Academy (Pensacola, Fla.) on Jan. 12. Scofield leads the country in scoring at 41.3 points per game and also has a 53-point outing this season.
