D2 District 1 (8 Man) recap Sept. 26, 2012
Sacred Heart extended the longest winning streak in D2 District 1 (8 Man) this week by beating Diller-Odell, 52-0. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Irish.
Sacred Heart took down the Griffin 52-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Lewiston's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Benny Brauer threw for 43 and two touchdowns and Cutter Singleton had 43 yards receiving. On the ground Alex Nouzovsky chipped in 74 yards. Austin Schmutz helped Lewiston's passing attack out by catching one ball for 31 yards.
Hayden Albers provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Tigers topped Deshler. He completed one pass for 31 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 45 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Austin Vitosh and Ely Hroch Diller-Odell has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Vitosh leads the league in passing with 215 yards, while Hroch has rushed for 536 yards this season. Lewiston's Schmutz leads the league in receiving yards with 194 on eight catches.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Rich Gilson's team takes on Sterling. The Tigers are currently in fourth, while the Jets are in second.
Lewiston led the league in scoring this week after putting up 64 points on the Dragons. Brauer ran for eight yards in the win.
