Erwin won the last time they faced Asheville, and Carson Wallace did his part to make sure it happened again. The Erwin Warriors enjoyed a cozy 72-53 win over the Asheville Cougars on Tuesday thanks in part to Wallace, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 12 rebounds. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.
Another player making a difference was Jackson Davis, who posted seven points in addition to nine boards and five assists. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in assists.
Asheville lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Elijah Cox, who put up 12 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Andre Thomas, who earned 16 points.
The victory got Erwin back to even at 10-10. As for Asheville, their loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-15.
Erwin will venture away from home to take on A.C. Reynolds at 7:30 p.m. on February 4th. A.C. Reynolds knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 14 matchups -- so hopefully Erwin likes a good challenge. As for Asheville, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 80-76 win against Enka on the 29th.
