Softball Recap: Johnson City Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

Johnson City came tearing into Tuesday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on Goldthwaite with a sharp 11-1 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Johnson City also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Emaleigh Davis and Bo Crownover made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Davis pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Crownover struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. That's the first time Davis hasn't allowed a single hit since back in April of 2024. At bat, Davis scored two runs while going 3-for-4, while Crownover went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Davis has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Isabelle Haley, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Chloe Clark was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

Johnson City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive matches.

Johnson City pushed their record up to 10-1-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Goldthwaite, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-7.

Johnson City will have a chance to go back-to-back against Goldthwaite: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
