McMinn Central hasn't had much luck against Sweetwater recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The McMinn Central Chargers will take on the Sweetwater Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. McMinn Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.2 runs per game this season.

McMinn Central is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Chattanooga Central on Saturday. McMinn Central was the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over Chattanooga Central. The result was nothing new for the Chargers, who have now won three contests by 11 runs or more so far this season.

Evan Preston looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Hunter Rayburn, who got on base in three of his six plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Oaks, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Sweetwater might've scored the first runs on Thursday, but it was Grace Christian Academy who claimed the real prize. Sweetwater took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Grace Christian Academy. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Rams: they've now lost four in a row.

Sweetwater also got a good showing from Will Watson, who tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Bryson Burgess was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

Sweetwater suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 2-2. As for McMinn Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.

McMinn Central couldn't quite finish off Sweetwater in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can McMinn Central avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
