The Mattawan Wildcats lost against the Lakeshore Lancers back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Mattawan took a 60-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lancers. Mattawan has struggled against the Lancers recently, as their game on Thursday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Mattawan lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Delaney Elsmore, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. That was a full 43.8% of Mattawan's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Meghan Duell was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds.
Mattawan's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Lakeshore, their victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mattawan will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th. As for Lakeshore, they will face off against the Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Norrix will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings (they are ranked 325th, while the Lancers are ranked 72nd).
