After two games on the road, Strasburg is heading back home. They will take on the Platte Valley Broncos at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Strasburg's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four matches.
Strasburg scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They breezed by Valley on the road to the tune of 109-46. Strasburg has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 30 points or more this season.
Strasburg can attribute much of their success to Tyce Bollers, who scored 27 points along with three steals, and Austin Velasco, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Velasco has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Glatfelter, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Platte Valley's five-game losing streak came to an end on Wednesday. They secured a 49-43 W over Timnath.
Braylon Edstrom continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 23 points along with five steals. He hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Talyn Short was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five assists and two steals.
Strasburg pushed their record up to 9-1 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 56 points. As for Platte Valley, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
Keep an eye on the arc in Thursday's match: Strasburg have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 7.3 threes per game. However, it's not like Platte Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 7.2 threes per game. Given Strasburg's sizeable advantage in that area, Platte Valley will need to find a way to close that gap.
Strasburg ended up a good deal behind Platte Valley in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, losing 66-47. Thankfully for Strasburg, Max Zenk (who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 22 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
