Mount Desert Island is 2-8 against Hermon since May of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Trojans will challenge the Hawks. The last four games Mount Desert Island has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Mount Desert Island is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Ellsworth 8-6. The game was the first time the Trojans have beaten the Eagles on their field since May 31, 2023.

Taylor Grant spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ella Watson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Morgan Culshaw also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Hermon never let their opponents score on Thursday. They put the hurt on Cony with a sharp 10-0 win. Considering the Hawks have won ten matchups by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Katie Fowler was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May. Molly Simcox was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and one run.
Hermon's victory bumped their record up to 15-2. As for Mount Desert Island, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Mount Desert Island has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Hermon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.1 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Mount Desert Island might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Hermon in their previous matchup back in May. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
