Baseball Recap: Seneca Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Seneca had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They never let the Liberty Red Devils onto the board and left with an 18-0 victory on Tuesday. The Bobcats have beaten the Red Devils the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Red Devils has come to flipping the script.

Tyler Vassey made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Vassey was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Kade Scruggs was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Rafael Little, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Seneca will host Belton-Honea Path at 6:00 p.m. on February 25th. As for Liberty, they will be playing at home against Travelers Rest at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
