On Friday, the Gulliver Prep Raiders got themselves on the board against the South Miami Cobras, but the South Miami Cobras never followed suit. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 44-0 victory over the Cobras. Given Gulliver Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 141st, while South Miami is ranked 467th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Gulliver Prep found their leader in underclassman Brendan Beery, who threw for 137 yards and two touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes. Jack Whitehouse and his 108 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Gulliver Prep's win.
The win (which was Gulliver Prep's fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-3. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-8 South Miami and 3-7 Killian (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 30.3% over those games). As for South Miami, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
Gulliver Prep will head out on the road to face off against Carrollwood Day at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Carrollwood Day is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. South Miami does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
