The Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs posted their biggest win since December 15, 2023 on Friday. They blew past Martinsville 83-50 on the road. Given Franklin Community's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Martinsville is ranked 290th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Micah Davis, who scored 25 points along with nine rebounds and five assists. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ryder Street, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds.
Despite the loss, Martinsville saw an underclassman step up: Grady Gardner scored 22 points. That was a full 44% of Martinsville's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Stroud, who scored 12 points.
The win was the third in a row for Franklin Community, bringing their record for this year to 13-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.0 points per game. As for Martinsville, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Franklin Community will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Warren Central at 1:30 p.m. on February 3rd. As for Martinsville, they will square off against Speedway at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Cam Reich and Gardner.
