Coleville had to endure a ten-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Whittell 56-16 at home. That 40 points margin sets a new team best for Coleville this season.
Coleville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Yosu Gutierrez led the charge by scoring ten points along with five rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Cyrus Childs, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Excel Christian posted their biggest victory yet this season on Thursday. They blew past enCompass Academy, posting a 55-24 victory at home. The victory was just what Excel Christian needed coming off of a 64-41 loss in their prior game.
Excel Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mark Doerfler, who scored 16 points along with four steals and three blocks. Doerfler hasn't dropped below two blocks for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Adelekan, who scored ten points along with five steals.
Coleville's record now sits at 1-8. As for Excel Christian, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Everything came up roses for Coleville against Excel Christian in their previous matchup back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 53-17 win. Does Coleville have another victory up their sleeve, or will Excel Christian turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
