Bay Port (Green Bay, Wis.) captured the lead on a touchdown run by
Alec Ingold with 1:00 left in the fourth quarter to defeat
Everest (Schofield, Wis.) 19-17 on Saturday.
The Pirates led 13-10 at halftime, but the Evergreens recaptured the lead on a touchdown pass by
Nick Sierakowski to
Alec Salzman with 2:00 to go in the fourth.
Everest's Sierakowski played well. The sophomore quarterback threw two touchdowns.
Bay Port's most effective player was Ingold. The sophomore quarterback ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored 21 touchdowns on the season.
BP went into the matchup giving up only 15.4 points per game.
The defeat comes as a step back for Everest, which notched a 39-14 victory over Kaukauna in its previous outing. The victory was a step in the right direction for the Green Bay school, which was coming off a 21-13 defeat at the hands of Southwest in its previous game. The loss snapped EHS's 3-game winning streak.
