Nettleton (Miss.) took an early lead against Mantachie (Miss.) and held on for a 45-14 victory on Saturday.
In the first quarter, the Tigers put up 13 points. Nettleton scored on a touchdown run by
Dakota Cruber and a passing touchdown.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by Cruber in the first quarter, NHS was up 32-0 at the half.
The Tigers grew their lead to 38 points entering the fourth quarter. Nettleton scored two times in the third, including once on a passing touchdown.
NHS came in allowing an average of 18.0 points per game this season. The Tigers held firm on the defensive front, and kept the Mustangs well below the 42.0 points it had been averaging per game.
When the two teams played each other last season, Nettleton came away with a 41-12 victory.
The loss comes after Mantachie defeated Alcorn Central 52-0 last week. The loss snapped Mantachie's two-game winning streak.
