Pioneer Valley recap Oct. 23, 2012
The Hillmen extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Lincoln, 10-7. The victory was the eighth in a row for Placer.
Colfax's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Michael Wilson threw for 342 and three touchdowns and Kyle Bryant had 158 yards receiving. On the ground Tim Rawlins chipped in 172 yards. Patrick Reisinger helped Colfax's passing attack out by catching 10 balls for 108 yards.
Brad Botsford made the biggest impact on defense this week as Bear River lost to Center. The 5-foot-11 junior grabbed 1.5 sacks.
The Falcons' Wilson and Bryant have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Wilson has thrown for 2272 yards this season, while Bryant has 56 catches for 969 yards. Ken Lowe's team's James Hubbard leads the league in rushing yards with 973.
Bryant of the Colfax's is a few catches away from breaking 1,000 yards for the season. He needs only 31 receiving yards in this week's game against Joey Montoya's team to get there.
The Fighting Zebras' Hubbard is a mere 27 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season.
A big matchup in Pioneer Valley this week will be when Tony Martello's team takes on the Hillmen. The Falcons are currently in fifth, while Placer is in first.
The Cougars took down Bear River 36-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
