The Mahomet-Seymour Bulldogs and the Romeoville Spartans will round out the year against one another at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Tuesday, Mahomet-Seymour was able to grind out a solid victory over Normal West, taking the game 64-55. The win was just what Mahomet-Seymour needed coming off of a 62-17 loss in their prior matchup.
Meanwhile, Romeoville waltzed into their contest last Saturday with six straight wins but they left with seven. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 65-48 win over Fenwick. Given Romeoville's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while Fenwick is ranked 89th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Mahomet-Seymour pushed their record up to 6-5 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.2 points per game. As for Romeoville, their win bumped their record up to 10-1.
Mahomet-Seymour suffered a grim 63-40 defeat to Romeoville when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Can Mahomet-Seymour avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
