Rocky Mount hasn't had much luck against Northern Nash recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Logan Hypes made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Northern Nash, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They blew past Roanoke Rapids 25-3 last Thursday. The Knights' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Tristan Murray made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Murray was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Northern Nash is undefeated when Murray posts two or more stolen bases, but 2-6 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landyn Worrell, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ben Edgerton, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.
Northern Nash has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Rocky Mount, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.
Rocky Mount suffered a grim 14-2 defeat to Northern Nash in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Gryphons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
