Carrizo Springs has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Devine Warhorses at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Carrizo Springs focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Tuesday.
On Tuesday, Carrizo Springs was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 42-37 to Pleasanton.
Carrizo Springs' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ysella Hinojosa, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds and eight steals, and Adisyn Reyes who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Hinojosa has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maryssa Perez, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Devine entered their tilt with Uvalde with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Devine simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Uvalde 59-25 on the road. Given Devine's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 382nd, while Uvalde is ranked 1215th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Carrizo Springs' loss dropped their record down to 19-10. As for Devine, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 23-8 record this season.
Carrizo Springs was dealt a bruising 57-30 defeat at the hands of Devine in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Carrizo Springs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
