The Chester Cyclones will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Clinton Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Chester has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while the Red Devils will arrive with eight straight wins.
Last Tuesday, Chester ended up a good deal behind the Wolverines and lost 54-39.
Meanwhile, Clinton put the finishing touches on their 11th blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Woodruff with a sharp 44-18 win. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 13 to 4 on the offensive boards, as Clinton did.
Clinton found their leader in underclassman Mylayja Thompson, who scored eight points along with nine steals and five rebounds. Thompson has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. McKenzie Clark was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Chester's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Clinton, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.
Chester took a serious blow against the Red Devils when the teams last played back in January, falling 58-30. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Thompson, who scored 11 points along with eight steals and six assists. Now that Chester knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
