The Pleasant Ridge Rams's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight defeat. They fell 42-35 to Jackson Heights. The match was a 18-18 toss-up at halftime, but Pleasant Ridge couldn't quite close it out.
Despite the defeat, Pleasant Ridge saw an underclassman step up: Brady Mance scored 23 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. That was a full 65.7% of Pleasant Ridge's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Cooper Beying was another key contributor, scoring three points along with eight steals and six rebounds.
Pleasant Ridge's loss was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Jackson Heights, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-5-1.
Pleasant Ridge will head out on the road to square off against Oskaloosa at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Pleasant Ridge focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Tuesday. As for Jackson Heights, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Atchison-Maur Hill-Mount Academy on Friday.
