Basketball Recap: Michael Lynch Key Part of a Team Effort in Paladins Win

On Saturday, the Pinecrest Academy Paladins were able to grind out a solid win over the Excel Christian Academy Eagles, taking the game 65-55. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Paladins.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pinecrest Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Michael Lynch, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 boards. Those 11 rebounds gave Lynch a new career-high. Joe Frain was another key player, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds.

Pinecrest Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Excel Christian Academy only pulled down ten offensive rebounds.

Despite the loss, Excel Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Kaiyu Huffman, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 17 points along with five assists and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Vieira, who posted nine points.

Pinecrest Academy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Excel Christian Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-7 record this season.

Pinecrest Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Cherokee Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pinecrest Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.8 points per game this season. As for Excel Christian Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge Praise Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Excel Christian Academy also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 72.9 points per game.
