While losing is never fun, Manor New Tech can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 666th, while Elgin is ranked 265th).
Isaiah Kinard and Keylan Morgan ll certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Kinard dropped a double-double on 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Morgan ll scored 14 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Morgan ll scored a full 29.2% of Manor New Tech's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Kome Harris, who scored 9 points along with 7 rebounds.
The last time Manor New Tech won on the road was back two weeks ago. Having now lost three straight away matches, they've bumped their record down to 5-5. As for Elgin, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
Manor New Tech will square off against Chaparral at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Chaparral is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 58.5 points per game. As for Elgin, they will head out on the road to face off against Austin Royals HomeSchool at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday. Austin Royals HomeSchool is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
