The Lake Creek Lions put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took down Brenham 39-21. Given Lake Creek's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 54th, while Brenham is ranked 270th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Tyvonn Byars, who rushed for 144 yards and three touchdowns, and also picked up 56 receiving yards. Byars was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 64 yards. Lake Creek also got help from Sam Lee who showed off his sure hands for 91 receiving yards.
Despite the loss, Brenham still got an impressive performance from Jakoby Dixon, who rushed for 150 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.3 yards per carry.
Lake Creek's victory was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 37.1 points. As for Brenham, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-6.
Lake Creek will face off against Nederland at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Brenham, they will head out on the road to face off against Port Neches-Groves at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Port Neches-Groves is coming into the contest hot, having won their last nine games.
